Calthwaite Road Race Report & Results:

Here are the Results & Report of the Calthwaite road race run off in wet and windy conditions!!! It was an eventful night for some of the riders who braved the wet weather as there were a number of crashes with riders ending up in the grass verge near to the finish, the best one was Graham Barclay - Team Leslie Bike Shop - Right Move Windows, who ended upside down in the ditch after a touch of wheels at the back of the bunch on lap 2. There was also a crash as the riders prepared for the sprint to the line as Ben Lane - VC Azzurri, was pushed off the road and ended his chances as he hit the grass!!!! There was a good ride by John Walton- VC Azzurri, who looked like he was going to win the race after a solo effort that saw him lead the race from lap 2 to almost the end of the race but just got caught 200m before the line but still managed to get 4th place in the sprint!!!! 1st Border City was Giles Harrison who managed to get 6th place in the sprint, good ride by him. There was a good turn out of BCW members to ride the event with 10 riders taking advantage of my discounted entry fee for the night. Glad they all turned up to race.   Results Below:

Special Thanks to all the Marshalls and officials that helped to put the race on, as without them the race would not go ahead.   Thanks to my mum and dad who help me put the signs out on the course, making the tea & coffee at the end of the race which is the most important after a hard race in the wet for another year!!!!!! & there support for the race!!!!   Hope to see more Border City Wheeler Members doing the race next year as it would make the race better if we had more riders!!!   Also thanks to Mike Lee of Palace Cycles who kindly donated some prizes for the event which were well received.   Hope to see you all again next year.   Neil Withington Organiser.

Note:

If you are entering a BCW event you must nominate a marshal at the request of the organiser. You will usually be given one weeks notice. It is your responsibility to ensure that they turn up if required. If the marshall does not turn up you will have to marshal yourself. This will be strictly enforced.

To enter any road race event the appropiate British Cycling entry form must be completed and sent with the entry fee to the event secretary whose name appeares in the handbook. Click the link below for an entry form.
